The Boulder Energy Challenge will be a competitive grant program that the City of Boulder will be launching mid-May designed to invite and stimulate local innovation and create market driven solutions to reduce Boulder’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Challenge is funded by the Climate Action Plan tax and will fund a portfolio of projects with approximately $300,000 available for grants. In 2014 the program will focus primarily on energy efficiency and clean energy development projects.
The types of projects eligible for the Challenge include:
- Pilot projects
- Concept feasibility/demonstration
- New product/service development
- Education and behavior change programs
- Other innovative projects to significantly reduce emissions
Eligibility is open to individuals, nonprofits and businesses. More details including the launch date will be available soon, so stay tuned!
