Leslie Glustrom:
Leslie Glustrom is a founding member of Clean Energy Action and started the group originally to lead the opposition to new coal plants in Colorado and promote the use of Colorado’s abundant renewable energy resources. Leslie was trained as a biochemist and spent many years teaching and doing research while honing her acti she resigned from her job conducting research in protein structure at the University of Colorado-Boulder to work full time on climate change and clean energy issues. Leslie has been instrumental in promoting utility-scale solar power in Colorado, and serving as a consumer watchdog before the Colorado Public Utilities commission.
Julie Zahniser:
A long-time Colorado resident, speech-language pathologist and educator, Julie Zahniser joined the Clean Energy Action Board of Directors in 2008 because of her growing concern about the need to respond to the Global Warming Crisis. Ms. Zahniser and her then husband built a primarily passive solar home in Boulder County in the 1980's where they raised theirr children to enjoy, respect, and steward the beautiful Colorado mountain outdoors. Previously involved in her local Sugarloaf community, school outdoor education programs, and the Sierra Club, Ms. Zahniser is a fairly recent but enthusiastic member of the energy activism community. "There is no point in teaching children to talk if the planet is burning up."
Anne Butterfield:
Anne B. Butterfield is a columnist for the Boulder Daily Camera, the Huffington Post and NewEnergyNews.com. She has a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from University of Colorado in Boulder and counts her husband Sandy Butterfield, Chief Engineer at the National Wind Technology Center of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, as well as her beach front ancestral property in Maine, as her inspiration to focus intensely on writing about renewable energy and the climate.
A freely engaged volunteer in Boulder's community, she was the designer and general contractor for the sandstone patio labyrinth at her parish, St. John's Episcopal Church in downtown Boulder. She was also a founding member in Boulder's Restorative Justice Project and a victim advocate in the Felony Division of the District Attorney's Office of the Twentieth Judicial District.
Lili Francklyn:
Lili Francklyn has been an environmental and energy activist for the past 30 years and a science journalist. She was a reporter for National Public Radio in Washington, DC focusing on energy and environmental issues, and a film producer for National Geographic. She produced many radio stories and films on the environmental impacts of fossil fuels and early indications of climate change. During the past decade she has focused her career on new media marketing, working with high-tech and renewable energy companies on web and online marketing strategies. She enjoys providing educationa and outreach services for environmental non-profits like Clean Energy Action.
Steve Manhard:
Stephen Mannhard, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, graduated from the University of Dayton where he studied natural sciences and business. After graduating, Stephen moved to Boulder, Colorado to work with the sustainability think tank, Natural Capitalism Solutions. At Natural Capitalism Solutions, Stephen worked with businesses and government agencies helping them profitably integrate sustainability into their organizational structure and strategy. Stephen now works for an energy services company, Standard Renewable Energy, where he consults in the residential and commercial sectors helping clients take a holistic approach to achieve lasting value from energy efficiency and renewable energy. Stephen has been on the board of director’s with Clean Energy Action since January of 2008.
